My name is Jennifer Hogan. I opened Light of My Life Child Care in January of 2010.
I am married to Gene, who works for UNL Sponsored Programs as a Grant Specialist. We have two daughters, Mena (born 2008) and Maggie (born 2010).
I graduated from UNL in 1998. I have a Bachelor of Arts with an English major and minors in History, Religion, and Sociology. I have also taken classes from SCC in Early Childhood Education. I worked at St. Mark's Preschool/KIDZONE teaching preschool in the 3 year old classroom from 2002 until 2009. I decided to open an in-home daycare so that I could care for my own children while I was earning an income caring for other children.
I am a member of LEEP (Lincoln Early Educational Professionals). We meet monthly to share ideas and support each other since most of us work alone in our homes. Our meetings include a topic of discussion or speaker so that we can grow professionally in our knowledge of child care. I am currently the communication chair on the board of LEEP (i.e., I send out e-mails to our members to keep them informed of what is going on in the group and I take care of our advertising).
